Cinnamon Cold Brew Toast was the fun result of not wanting to waste bread ends. We thought this could be a hearty dish, like French Toast, but it works better as a snack. It's sweet, & enjoyable, but not too filling.
Here are the things you need to create Cinnamon Cold Brew Toast:
- Water
- Cinnamon
- Sugar
- Cold brew coffee
- Butter
- Slices of bread
- 1 Pot
- 1 Tupperware-type container that's big enough to fit a slice of bread in
- 1 Pan
The first thing we did, after gathering our ingredients, was make syrup. We made our syrup by:
- Pouring 1/2 a cup of water in the pot
- Pouring 1/2 a cup of sugar in the pot
- Putting 1 tablespoon of cinnamon in the pot
- Pouring 1/2 a cup of cold brew coffee in the pot
- Get all of the ingredients in the pot up to a boiling temperature, & keep moving the ingredients around the pot with a whisk. You want to make sure the sugar, & cinnamon dissolve as much as possible
- Keep boiling & whisking for 5 minutes, or until all of the sugar, & cinnamon has dissolved
- Let the ingredients in the pot cool off, & add another cup of cold brew to the pot. Now you have your syrup
- Get your Tupperware-type container, put a slice of bread in the container, & pour your cooled off syrup over the slice of bread
- Let your bread soak in the syrup for, at least, 1 minute. We made sure our bread was totally soaked in the syrup
- Repeat the bread soaking steps with as many slices of bread as you want. We did it with 2 slices of bread, & had enough syrup leftover where we, probably, could have soaked 2 more slices of bread
- Get your pan, put it on the stove. Set the stove to High
- As the pan heats, spread some butter around the pan until there's a noticeable layer of melted butter covering the flattest surface of the pan
- Put your syrup soaked slices of bread into the pan
- We kept our slices of syrup soaked bread in the pan until the bread started to sizzle. That took, maybe 3 minutes. Also, we didn't flip the bread while it was in the pan. The bread was too soaked to flip it, & keep the slices intact
And you're done. Eat the stuff now. You should be able to enjoy a gooey, cinnamon-y, snack, with a hint of cold brew flavor.
When we make this snack again, we're going to add more cold brew. We'd really enjoy the cold brew flavors being the stars of the show, with hints of cinnamon, & sugar.
